Auli is located at Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state in India. It is a hill station and ski resort. It has taken giant leaps over the years to emerge as a must visit location for skiing. It offers good treks to nearby places and is a good ski resort from November to March. The 4+km ropeway from Joshimath to Auli is one of the longest in India. From an altitude of nearly 3000 meters, the snowy slopes offer thrilling skiing experience. Nanda Devi, Mana and Kamet are among the highest peaks that can be seen from Auli.
Even in summer, Auli is a major tourist attraction for its panoramic views and green meadows. The Valley of Flowers and Hemkund sahib are places to visit near Auli. The tourist department and the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) offers skiing course for tourists. The charges are around INR3500 per head.
Nearest airport is Dehradun (300kms) and nearest railway station is Raiwala near Rishikesh (250kms). Travel from here in the morning by road and reach Joshimath-Auli by evening (better to reach before 4pm). GMVN has a tourist bungalow with deluxe huts at Auli.
